About Me

My name is Mark Long. I am an experienced specialist teacher SpLD/dyslexia assessor who has been carrying out full diagnostic assessments since 2014 and gained a masters in SpLD/Dyslexia in 2017 having completed modules related to both dyslexia and dyscalculia. I have taught in both the primary and secondary sector and have also been a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). I have also worked for a Local Authority advisory service as a dyslexia specialist, tutored on the NASENCO Award course through Plymouth University and tutored on post graduate dyslexia courses at Bath Spa University . I strongly believe that dyslexia assessments can provide clarity and help to explain to children, young people and parents why barriers to reading, spelling, writing and wider learning have been present and give guidance on how such barriers can be reduced so that learning can flourish and learning potentials reached. I carry out full diagnostic assessments for children and young people up to the age of 18. Following the writing of the formal assessment report I am happy to have further dialogue to help explain the details of the report.

As I am an Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC) holder the report that is written can be used as evidence for the Disabled Student allowance (DSA) if dyslexia is identified.
